ForWind bundles the wind energy research in northwest Germany and links 30 institutes and working groups at the universities of Oldenburg, Hannover, and Bremen. ForWind thus forms a research network which is one of a kind in Germany and covers a wide spectrum of scientific topics. Its research focuses are in the fields of engineering, physics and meteorology, computer science, and economics.<\/p>\n
ForWind was founded in 2003 with the support of the Lower Saxony Ministry of Science and Culture (MWK). Wind energy research at the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg and Leibniz Universit\u00e4t Hannover has since been combined in ForWind. In 2009, the University of Bremen joined as a new partner, allowing ForWind to once again significantly expand its research spectrum. In 2017, the ForWind WindLab with the turbulent wind tunnel was opened at the Oldenburg site. The WindLab is also home to the ForWind office.<\/p>\n
Within the Energie-Forschungszentrum Niedersachsen (EFZN)<\/a> ForWind is in charge of the research focus on wind energy. The EFZN is a joint scientific center of the universities of Braunschweig, Clausthal, G\u00f6ttingen, Hannover and Oldenburg.<\/p>\n Together with the German Aerospace Center (DLR) and the Fraunhofer Institute for Wind Energy Systems (IWES), ForWind forms the Research Association for Wind Energy (FVWE)<\/a>.<\/p>\n
