In the new joint project MOUSE, such computer models are now to be decisively improved: The researchers plan to look at different physical phenomena together across several orders of magnitude and time scales, also using machine learning methods.<\/p>\n<p>Content and Methodology:<\/p>\n<p>The ForWind team at the University of Oldenburg intends to use the calculations to develop, for example, new methods for controlling wind farms and individual turbines so that they can adapt even better to changing flow conditions. The Fraunhofer IWES sub-project aims to test the new approaches for their practical suitability for the wind energy industry. Overall, the results of the project should accelerate the design of wind turbines and, in the long term, help to monitor them digitally during operation.<\/p>\n<p>In so-called numerical simulations, the solutions of complex physical equations are calculated approximately. In the project, atmospheric air currents and their interaction with the ocean will be considered together, and the researchers will also simultaneously study the elastic deformation of wind turbines.
