Immersive Media Lab
at the Institute for Communication Technology at Leibniz Universität Hannover
The Audio Communication and Acoustics research group at the Institute of Communication Technology is involved in research and teaching on a wide range of issues in the fields of electroacoustics, binaural technology, room acoustics, audio signal processing and virtual acoustics.
Our group has been running an Immersive Media Lab since November 2016 to create virtual acoustic environments. Different playback systems with up to 48 channels can be operated in the 30 square meter room. This means that classic surround sound systems (5.1, 7.1) as well as modern 3D audio systems (Auro3D 9.1, NHK 22.2, DTS-X) and proprietary Ambisonics and VBAP playback systems can be realized.
