by Nov 1, 2023News

Every two years in November, the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Geodesy opens its doors to interested visitors for an entire evening. “The night that creates knowledge” will take place at Leibniz Universität Hannover Campus Schneiderberg and at the Marienwerder research campus on Saturday, November 4, 2023 from 6 p.m. to midnight.

Several ForWind member institutes will present their research on various aspects of wind energy science and technology at the Marienwerder research campus. The staff of the institutes look forward to welcoming visitors of all ages with guided tours, lectures and exhibitions.

Children and adults are invited to slip into the role of a civil engineer or geodesist in hands-on activities. The guided tours include wind energy research at the Test Centre for Support Structures, experiments such as the MicroWind demonstrator, shape memory steel, secrets of the coastal landscape and extremes in the water cycle, exhibitions such as “From nanoparticles to gliders and wind turbines” and lectures such as “Big white wings: How fiber composites enable us to have climate-neutral warm houses and vacations”.

Among the numerous institutes presenting themselves, ForWind members the Institute of Steel Construction, the Institute of Statics and Dynamics, the Ludwig-Franzius-Institute for Hydraulic and Estuarine and Coastal Engineering and the SFB 1463 Offshore Megastructures will also be opening their doors to visitors. To get to the Marienwerder research campus, take streetcar line 4 (direction Garbsen) to the “Schönebecker Allee” stop, continue by shuttle bus (timed to coincide with the streetcar) or walk (approx. 5 minutes).
