That was WindEnergy 2026 from ForWind’s perspective

ForWind was represented at WindEnergy Hamburg 2026 alongside partners from the Wind Energy Research Consortium. At the joint booth of the State of Lower Saxony, scientists from ForWind, the Fraunhofer Institute for Wind Energy Systems (IWES), and the German Aerospace Center (DLR) presented their latest research on wind energy.

A key focus of the trade show presentation was the measurement campaigns conducted by the Living Lab 70 GW Offshore Wind. A model made of building blocks served as a visual conversation starter and illustrated key elements of the offshore measurements: including LiDAR systems, various sensors, aircraft-based measurements, and the research vessel “Heincke,” which served as the offshore base during the campaigns. In addition, a digital visualization provided a more detailed insight into the measurement campaigns and the measurement systems used.

ForWind researchers from all three participating universities—the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg, the University of Bremen, and Leibniz University Hannover—were represented at the trade show. WindEnergy thus also provided an opportunity for professional exchange with representatives from research, industry, and other sectors of the wind energy industry.
